april is an embedded tax platform built for wealth management firms. We provide Expert Filing service to your clients, where april's credentialed Tax Pros prepare and file their returns after a short questionnaire and document upload. The sections below cover what april does, how Expert Filing works, and what your role is.
What's april?
april is an embedded tax platform built for wealth management firms. It gives you a way to offer clients professionally prepared tax filing and year-round tax insight without building a tax team or hiring CPAs, and without handing your client to an outside preparer during tax season.
april's Integrated Tax Platform connects three things on one tax engine: Expert Filing, where credentialed Tax Pros prepare and file returns; tax data & insights from your clients' returns and IRS records, which can surface held-away assets and planning opportunities; and scenario modeling for decisions like Roth conversions, equity compensation, and investment transactions. Because the advisor, Tax Pro, and client work in the same platform, you stay in the relationship during tax season instead of waiting on a hand-off.
april owns its tax engine, holds IRS e-file authorization, and supports filing in all 50 states. To learn more, visit www.getapril.com.
What's april's Expert Filing?
Expert Filing is a tax filing service for your clients with no operational overhead on your side. april's team of credentialed, U.S.-based tax professionals (Tax Pros) prepares and files each return inside april's dashboard.
Important: Your clients only complete a short digital questionnaire and upload their tax documents. april's Tax Pros handle the rest.
How does the filing process work for my clients?
Your client signs in to april via your firm’s platform.
Your client completes a short digital questionnaire.
Your client uploads their tax documents.
An april Tax Pro gets assigned to your client and prepares the return using april's tax engine.
Your client reviews and authorizes the return.
The Tax Pro e-files the return.
Note: Tax Pros don't file a return until the client authorizes it, so clients stay in control of what's submitted.
What do I need to do as an advisor?
Your role is to introduce and convince clients to file with april. You can find messaging and email templates to share with your clients in the “Selling Tax Filing to Clients“ module. Once a client is in april's platform, the questionnaire, document upload, preparation, and filing all happen there.
